Parental Alienation is recognised as being a situation whereby a child becomes unjustifiably resistant or hostile towards one parent. This is a result of psychological manipulation by the other parent.
Alienating behaviour can present itself on a spectrum with varying levels of impact on the child involved. For example, it may involve a parent belittling or talking negatively about the other parent, limiting contact between the child and other parent or creating the impression that the other parent dislikes or does not love the child.
These tactics can create a false belief that the alienated parent is a danger to the child or is someone that the child should fear or avoid.
Parental Alienation can have a devastating effect upon the relationship between the child and the alienated parent.
At George Green LLP our specialist Family Solicitors are experts in advising clients in respect of parental alienation and the options available to them.
