Clare Wiseman completes foundation training as a Collaborative Lawyer

Clare Wiseman, head of our Family Team has recently completed her foundation training as a Collaborative Lawyer. Clare is now fully qualified to deal with cases through the Collaborative Law process.

Due to pressures on the traditional court system and on families generally, it is widely felt that litigation (or even the threat of litigation) does not provide the best arena for the majority of couples when they are separating. The court system and/or the "traditional" way of dealing with family breakdown, through solicitors, can be crippling financially and emotionally.

Collaborative Law provides an innovative alternative. Parties will agree from the outset that they wish to resolve matters without going to court. The parties are in control – they set the pace and they establish the priorities. Matters are dealt with by way of a series of face to face meetings with lawyers on hand to provide support, guidance and advice.

Participants to the Collaborative process must have a genuine desire to reach an agreement that is fair to the whole family, a willingness to disclose information and to be transparent and a heartfelt desire, if they have children, to put them at the heart of all of the discussions.

If you wish to resolve matters relating to your separation with a greater degree of dignity, respect and creativity, then Collaborative Law might well be the best option for you.
