George Green joins with local school for Christmas tree festival

Local law firm, George Green LLP has teamed up with Corngreaves Academy once again to enable the school to participate in the Christmas Tree Festival at St Johns Church in Dudley Wood. All trees entered in the festival have a theme.

This year Congreaves Academy chose the theme of Christmas around the world. With the news focusing heavily on events in different countries, the school wanted to look at how other countries celebrated Christmas to find out what their traditions are and the stories they share.

Each class chose a country to research and then made a decoration to represent it. The countries which were chosen were China, Sweden, Mexico, America, Germany and Australia. The tree features hand-made decorations made by children from all year groups and it can be seen between the 11th to 13th December at St John’s Church, Dudley Wood Road along with over 20 other trees entered by organisations from across the local community.

Helen Drinkwater, Assistant Head Teacher, of the school, explained "as a school we decided to look at Christmas around the world.  It has been a wonderful hook for children to learn more about other cultures and their traditions."

Alex-Jayne Lowe, Commercial Property Partner at George Green LLP comments: “George Green is delighted to support Corngreaves Academy and the Christmas Tree Festival again this year. We hope to support further local community projects in the future.”
