George Green LLP advise on sale of Rankins Glass

Leading Black Country law firm George Green LLP has recently advised on the sale of Rankins (Glass) Company Limited to iGlass Limited for an undisclosed sum.

The original Rankins company dates back to 1740 and the company has glazed many Fleet Street newspaper offices, put the face on London’s Big Ben and, more recently, provided protective and low reflective panels for some of the country’s most precious works of art.

iGlass Limited is owned by Gregg Botterman and Mark Woodward, who both have vast experience in the glass industry and the supply of products to the interiors markets.  Paul Rankin, the former owner of Rankins, will continue in the role of chairman following the sale.

The sale to iGlass will mean expansion and diversification for Rankins. Rankins will continue to supply and support the glass trade, the building sector and will expand its business in the interiors market with the incorporation of the full range of existing and new iGlass products, such as handleless glass-fronted kitchen cabinets, glass-fronted radiators, bespoke shower cladding, new designs in kitchen & bathroom splashbacks, designer glass worktops and handcrafted glass cabinet handles.

Gregg Botterman from iGlass said “We are extremely proud to have the name of Rankins in the iGlass fold, as they have such a long heritage in the glass industry. These are exciting times for iGlass as we look to expand over the coming years”

Associate Clare Lang led the George Green team. Jay Boyce from accountants Bloomer Heaven also advised Paul Rankin.
