George Green visit the Combat Stress Treatment Centre

Midlands law firm George Green LLP has recently visited the Combat Stress treatment centre, Audley Court, in Shropshire. The centre provides 27 rooms for veterans and carers.

Combat Stress is the UK’s leading mental health charity for veterans of the UK Armed Forces, providing free specialist clinical treatment and support to ex-servicemen and women across the UK.

The centre allows veterans to feel at home and amongst other veterans whose experiences may be similar to their own.

Over the past five years the charity has received almost 10,000 referrals, an increase of 71%, which illustrates the urgent need to support veterans with mental health issues. The charity currently has more than 6,000 veterans across the UK registered with them.

Louise Axford, Private Client Solicitor at George Green LLP who went to the treatment centre commented “Our visit to Audley Court allowed us the opportunity to observe the fantastic work that Combat Stress does every single day. The Treatment Centre offers a haven for veterans suffering from a variety of mental health conditions. Over the past five years Combat Stress have supported nearly 10,000 veterans and we are proud to be supporting the work they do.”

David Stevenson, Chief Executive at George green said “support for our nominated charity throughout the year is an important part of what we are about at George Green .We like to channel our efforts on one charity each year because this is how we think the focus this provides enables us to maximise our impact; put simply, to make a real difference .To have the opportunity to make this visit was very welcome serving as it does to put some context to our fundraising efforts “
