How much does a conveyancing transaction cost?

When you purchase a property, there will be additional costs that you need to pay in addition to the price of the property itself.  Various factors will affect the cost of your transaction and it is unlikely that any two conveyances will be exactly the same.

However, in most transactions, the following charges will apply:

  • Solicitors fees (usually fixed at a set amount);

  • Disbursements (these refer to costs that your solicitor will incur that will be charged to you. For example, the cost of searches or Land Registry fees);

  • Redemption fees (if you need to redeem any existing mortgages and potential penalties for early repayment);

  • Stamp Duty (if no exemptions apply);

If you are selling a property, you will incur solicitor fees as well as estate agent fees for marketing the property. You will also need to consider any mortgage redemption penalties as mentioned above.

This list is not exhaustive and the solicitors in our conveyancing team will be able to provide you with a tailored quote.
