George Green visited Edgbaston High School for Girls on Thursday 24th September to give the pupils of key stage three a talk on the rule of law, separation of powers and human rights law.
As of November 2014, the Department of Education made it a requirement for British schools to promote basic British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs.
Alex-Jayne Lowe, Commercial Property Partner, and Lauren Dale, Trainee Solicitor, from the Black Country law firm gave an interactive presentation to the students. The afternoon was a huge success with the pupils. One of the girls revealed “I learnt a lot about law that I didn’t know before, it was very interesting!” The members of staff were also impressed with the presentation with one of the teachers commenting “I thought that Alex-Jayne and Lauren broke down difficult ideas into easy to understand concepts that the girls could really relate to. They were engaging and interacted with the girls really well.”
Alex-Jayne Lowe said “Lauren and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the pupils and staff at Edgbaston High School for Girls. The girls were all enthusiastic and asked intelligent questions. I hope we inspired some lawyers of the future.”
