George Green "Walks to D'feet" for MNDA

A team from George Green LLP has completed the Walk to D’feet MND challenge raising money for the law firm’s charity of the year, Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) by walking from its offices in Cradley Heath to its office in Wolverhampton.

The team had great fun walking the 12 miles between its two offices taking 25,000 steps and burning 3,800 calories whilst completing the walk via the Dudley and Birmingham canals. The walk also included some of the sights of the Black Country’s industrial past, a particular highlight being the Netherton tunnel. After walking the 1.7 miles through the pitch black tunnel underneath Dudley; safe to say we were pleased to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

The team raised over four hundred pounds in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Motor Neurone Disease (MND) affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time and it is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord; it attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work. The Association funds and promotes research that leads to new understanding and treatments, and brings closer a cure. As well as this it also funds specialist equipment and support grants for people diagnosed with MND.

Louise Axford, Trainee Solicitor and Head of the Charity Committee at George Green LLP said “I am so pleased that the George Green Walk to D’feet was successfully completed last week. It was great to take in some of the Black Country’s industrial history including the Netherton Tunnel. It was great fun and I would like to thank everyone for their kind donations.”

David Stevenson, George Green’s Chief Executive commented “Everyone at George Green is always keen to represent the firm and get involved in the various fundraising events across the firm. Walk to D’feet is one of our many charity fundraising events throughout the year. MNDA is a charity which is close to our hearts and I am so pleased the money we raise over the next year will be going towards supporting the local group in Sandwell and Dudley.”

George Green are now preparing for the next charity fundraising event – the Three Peaks Challenge (Read more here). If you would like to donate please visit our just giving page.
