Overview of Melanie’s practice

Melanie is a Chartered Legal Executive specialising in Family Law.  She qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Legal Executives in 2008.

Having worked locally in family law for many years, Melanie has experience in advising clients on a wide range of family issues, from the beginning of a relationship, preparing Cohabitation Agreements, Pre-Nuptial Agreements, Post-Nuptial Agreements, and when relationships break down, advising on Separation, Divorce/Dissolution and negotiating to resolve finances and matters relating to children.  Where matters cannot be resolved by agreement, she represents clients through the Court process of Financial Remedy and Children Act proceedings.

Melanie is a member of Resolution which is an organisation for family professionals who work in a non-confrontational manner, narrowing issues and working towards settlement in an amicable way.

Recent experience

Family law is varied, and Melanie has had recent finance cases involving applications for Legal Services Payment Orders where one party is ordered to provide funds for legal costs of the other, third-party disclosure orders where information is being withheld, and application for Intervenors into a matter where a third party alleges an interest in matrimonial assets.

And for something else …

Melanie has, over the years, grown to share her husband’s and son’s love of Formula 1 and all things motor racing. She has spent various weekends at Donnington Park and attended the Welsh Rally - come rain or shine.  Melanie enjoys countryside walks in the summer, and beach walks in the winter.
